Introducing Dakota
Dakota, the horse, came to Riverside Ranch 7 years ago. He arrived here as a boarder and won the right to be the boss of the herd in a dramatic battle with the leader of the time. He had a kicking match which I had to watch and hope neither would end up with serious injuries. The former leader (Big Guy) actually beat him to the ground. A small pony he had bonded with called to him and led him far from the herd for the rest of that night.
The next morning he came back and was ready to do it all again. Big Guy who was elderly at the time just walked away and from that day forward Dakota was the "boss hoss".
